WC Desk:

The theme of IWD 2024 is Inspire Inclusion- a topic very close to our mission. From the beginning of our journey, we aimed to be inclusive in our mission to promote women’s rights not only in Bangladesh, but also beyond the borders.
Inclusion and diversity are crucial to ensuring that the feminist movements are based on solidarity and equality. Embracing diverse voices, experiences, and perspectives within feminism expands its reach and relevance, ensuring that it addresses the multifaceted challenges faced by women across diverse backgrounds. Inclusivity ensures that feminist movements don’t become hijacked by privileged groups of feminists in any given context.
Diversity within the feminist movement fosters a more nuanced understanding of gender dynamics and power structures, enriching feminist theory and activism with a broader range of perspectives and solutions. It promotes solidarity across diverse groups, fostering alliances and collaborations that strengthen collective efforts towards gender equality. Without being inclusive and diverse, we cannot make much progress towards gender equality. If we want to achieve equality, we have to first make our movements more inclusive and diverse, and then only we can make progress towards making sure women are getting equal opportunities across industries, in politics, in peace tables. If the feminist movements are not inclusive, then our vision will only remain myopic.
On this occasion, we would also like to pay tribute to the feminists across the globe who have suffered immensely in their mission to advance women’s rights, to women who are imprisoned for wanting to be themselves under oppressive regimes, to women who are fighting and fleeing for survival in war zones, to women who are fighting patriarchy every single day. From Iran to Palestine, we wish for a safer and more inclusive world for women in coming years.
