Bangladesh wins Women’s Asia Cup

WC Desk:

“Bangladesh women’s cricket team beat India – six-time and defending champions – by three wickets to win their maiden Asia Cup trophy in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.”- The Hindu

Tigresses do it

“Bangladesh defeat India by three wickets in the final of the T20 Asia cup to clinch a memorable victory. It was a scintillating finish at the Kinara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur as Tigresses needed two runs off the last delivery when Jahanara Alam hit the ball towards mid on and completed a tight double to take Tigers to victory against formidable India.”- Daily Star

“Bangladesh’s women stunned India to win the Asia Cup Twenty20 for the first time – and inflict a first defeat in the final on their opponents.”- BBC Sports

From Team Women Chapter, heartfelt congratulations to the team for their stunning performance and victory. We sincerely wish that this victory will contribute towards encouraging more girls in Bangladesh to pursue their passion for sports. Another aspect that needs to be considered is that the male cricketers are paid a high amount every month whereas the female cricketers are underpaid. We sincerely hope after this victory will contribute towards bridging this gap and reducing gendered discrimination prevailing in the sports industry.
