Busiku Handema – SAFIGI Activist:

Precious chanda is 19 years old. She was born in 1997 from mother Magret Mwila. She never knew her father, and her mother who might have known his whereabouts died when she was still very young.
She was born in the family of six but she is the only surviving member of her family right now, as all her brothers and sisters have passed on.
The lack of support from relatives and accommodation forced her in to an early marriage at the age of 15, which she believed was a solution to her problems.

However, her life has not been easy as her husband does not work. This makes it hard for her to meet her daily needs and those of her son. Her wish is to go back to school and one day becomes a journalist, even though she stopped school in grade 11.
Precious wants to encourage other girls in a similar situation. She advises girls to appreciate their parents and relatives. And even if a girl does not have the support of a family, she should not involve herself in prostitution or other vices.
She says that every child who is in school must concentrate on their studies at school. She advises girls not to give in to early marriage as this does not solve problems.
Precious plans to go back to school in 2017.
