Solidarity with #metoo in Bangladesh

WC Desk:

With #MeToo movement gaining momentum in Bangladesh, women from different professions, including from civil society and media, formed a human chain in the capital city of Dhaka to express solidarity with the #MeToo movement on Friday, November 16.
The human chain was formed in front of the Jatiya Press Club under the banner of ‘Solidarity with #MeToo’ and was arranged by Shachetan Nagorik Shomaj.
Speakers at the human chain urged the government to execute the verdict given by the High Court on sexual harassment.
They also demanded an investigation of each complaint surfacing with the #MeToo tag in Bangladesh and exemplary punishment of the culprits.

In the past few weeks, many Bangladeshi women have chosen to share their stories of abuse, particularly sexual violence, under the #MeToo movement. The movement has been supported by many, while also criticized by different factions of the society.
